When the Stars Align

Artist John Hogan and I had a great conversation yesterday on the nature of today's art market. And, in particular, the ingredients for success. We discussed the various sectors of the artworld--critics and curators, gallerists and collectors. And, we debated the breadth of professional practices needed for visibility as an artist today. John added the ingredient of luck in all of this effort.

I would like to open up a discussion on this; please email me your comments and questions. I am thinking of adding this to my list of lectures depending on reader interest.

By the way, this conversation was spurred by my visit the previous day to the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle; detail of ceiling installation is shown here.
